Three Storey Harbour View Residence
Clontarf, Sydney

Status: Under Construction
This project blurs the line between a completely new home and a substantial renovation.
Rather than demolishing the existing structure, careful consideration of cost, sustainability, and structural integrity led to the decision to retain the original double brick house.
The existing home presented strong foundations, being built on a sandstone shelf, while the timber flooring and structural framework were found to be in reasonably good condition.

Design Story
The design transforms the existing dwelling into a one-of-a-kind luxury three-storey home that maximises its spectacular location.
The new layout captures sweeping 180-degree views across Sydney Harbour while carefully integrating the retained structure with new architectural interventions.
A particularly interesting aspect of the project was navigating the council approval process and successfully justifying an FSR exemption, allowing the home to achieve its full design potential while remaining compliant with planning requirements.
